Home to Alberta’s largest film festival, Calgary was the perfect fit to host the seventh Movie Nights Across Canada screening. To highlight the richness of Canadian stories, the festival selected When They Awake as their opening movie.

A vibrant celebration of Indigenous Canadian musicians, When They Awake is a journey into a tapestry of artists in the midst of a full-blown musical revolution. These passionate leaders speak to the next generation of Indigenous Canadian youth through their art.

Hosted by talent ambassadors Melissa O’Neil and Michelle Thrush, the night featured musical performances by Logan Staats, Iskwe, JB The First Lady, and DJ Shub.
