Mina Shum
The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts

Movie Nights Across Canada culminated at the Vancouver International Film Festival, home of one of the world’s largest showcases of Canadian cinema. Vancouverite Mina Shum’s Meditation Park was selected for the Opening Night Gala of the 36th annual VIFF and the final Movie Nights Across Canada screening.

Meditation Park is the story of Maria who, after decades of devoted marriage, discovers a thong in her husband’s pocket. As a result, she starts to investigate her husband’s discrepancies and, in the process, finds a new community and herself. Hosted by talent ambassadors Ben Ratner and Gabrielle Miller, the evening was an homage to west-coast Canada and the diverse talent that comes out of it.
